Frequently Asked Questions
Why hire a mobile dog washing service to clean your dog on the Sunshine Coast?
Mobile dog washing provides a hassle-free, calm, and enjoyable experience for both you and your canine companion. Visualise not having to drag your reluctant dog into the car, drive them to a grooming salon, or deal with a messy home DIY wash with a dog who isn’t a fan of water. Instead, imagine your local, professional, friendly dog groomer, Troy Harper, conveniently arriving right at your home or even at your office in his brand-new, Australian-made, heated and cooled trailer.
Your dog will enjoy a calm bathing experience without the risk of exposure to lots of germs, fleas, or the anxiety that often gets triggered by other agitated dogs in a traditional grooming salon. No more lengthy waiting in a cage for your pet, or being bombarded by the unfamiliar sounds of other anxious animals. Instead, we bring our modern, mobile dog wash directly to your door on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland for easy-care service every time.
At Alpha Dog Wash, we guarantee that you and your dog will consistently have the same groomer, Troy, to discuss your pet's grooming needs with and to help make your dog feel comfortable and safe. We promise a personalised, one-on-one service every time and work hard to ensure all dogs handled feel as safe, comfortable, and loved as possible.

Which areas does Alpha Dog Wash service with its mobile pet washing trailer on the Sunshine Coast?
We currently service most of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, including suburbs such as Buderim, Sippy Downs, Mountain Creek, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Birtinya, Kawana, Coolum, Yandina, Mudjimba, Caloundra, Marcoola, Pelican Waters, Nambour, Noosa, Tewantin, Peregian Springs, Peregian Beach, and many more.
We will continue to expand as our business grows, so please get in touch if your suburb isn’t listed here so we can chat about options and find a way to fit you in. We also have some fur clients living outside of our standard service areas who just meet us in an area we regularly go to while they run errands or grab coffee, etc.
Is your mobile dog wash trailer temperature-controlled?
Yes! Our modern, locally-made mobile dog washing trailer is temperature-controlled with a specially-made reverse-cycle air conditioning/heating unit. We keep our fur-clients toasty warm inside during the winter months, and cool as a cucumber on the hottest dog days of summer on the Sunshine Coast! This means you never have to worry about your dog being stressed or harmed by less-than-ideal conditions.
Can I see the inside of your mobile dog washing set up?
Absolutely! We are very proud of our state-of-the-art mobile dog washing trailer (that was built right here in Queensland) and are happy to give you a tour when you arrive for your appointment.
Please note, though, that we do ask for privacy while we bathe your dog. Sometimes, pets can become distressed and unhappy during the dog-wash process when they see their parents or other loved ones, which can make it difficult to safely complete their bath time.
Can you tell me more about your mobile dog washing set up on the Sunshine Coast?
Our brand-new, modern, state-of-the-art self-contained mobile dog washing unit was built locally in Queensland in 2024 and contains a reverse-cycle air-conditioning unit to keep your pet comfortable no matter how hot or cold it might be weather-wise at the time. The trailer is completely covered, too, so we can bathe your pet even if it’s pouring, plus pups don’t have a chance of jumping out and running off, and thus putting themselves in danger!
In addition to the main large stainless steel tub that can hold the largest dog breeds with room to spare (and that we wash down in between every bath to ensure cleanliness for all pooches), the trailer comes with a purpose-designed shelf to raise for the tiniest of dog breeds so they never feel overwhelmed in the large tub, plus a hook to secure pets if ever needed so they can’t hurt themselves during the bath (although they remain comfortable and can move to enough of a degree to not feel trapped).
We can lift dogs as needed into the trailer and we lift them into and out of the bath, too. Troy, our dog washer, is fit, strong, and healthy and able to lift even large dogs. The ability to do this is especially important for older dogs with hip, back, or general arthritis problems, as we will always ensure your pet doesn’t get injured or end up in pain after hopping in and out of the trailer.
All of our clients receive a deep clean via our specially-made hydro bath system. This ensures the shampoo and conditioner gets right down to the skin on even the thickest of coats while also providing nice warm water and a comforting massage (perfect for achy muscles and stiff joints). We’ve noticed that pet coats are softer and shinier than ever after our baths, and we’re sure you’ll notice the difference, too!
At the Sunshine Coast’s Alpha Dog Wash, we work hard not to waste water and to operate as greenly as possible. Our professional dog washing trailer is brand new and features the latest fixtures and fittings, too.
How old does an animal have to be to have their first mobile dog wash with Alpha Dog Wash on the Sunshine Coast?
An early start on a dog’s bathing regimen actually helps you, us, and your fur-friend start off on the right paw. As a result, we’re happy to bathe young pups as well as senior dogs and every age in between. A good wash is something your pet will need around monthly for the rest of their lives to feel, look, and smell good, so the sooner they start getting used to their fun bath, the better! Please note, however, that we recommend starting with dog washing after your beloved pooch has received all their appropriate vaccinations and your puppy is weaned and healthy – typically around 8-12 weeks of age.
Can I supply my own shampoo?
You probably don’t supply your own shampoo when you go to the hairdresser, so there’s really no need to do so when your dog gets a bath with Alpha Dog Wash. However, if you’d really feel more comfortable supplying us with a set shampoo, that’s fine. You can hand it to us when you lead your pet to us or leave it out somewhere we can access if we’re picking your dog up from a yard ourselves if you’re going to be out. Please note, though, that we have invested considerable time and money into our education and selection of products so our clients can have confidence that their dogs’ wellbeing is always thought of. All of our products are free of SLS, parabens, phthalates, are naturally inspired, and environmentally-sustainable. Our dog washing products are designed to be suitable for every skin, coat condition and concern.
I have a veterinary-prescribed shampoo. Can I still bring it?
Vet-prescribed shampoos are generally designed to be used on an affected area 2-4 times a week. A professional dog-washing session once every month or so therefore isn’t the appropriate replacement for the treatments your pet should be receiving much more regularly, so unfortunately we’ll need to leave this application up to you in between our mobile dog wash visits on the Sunny Coast.
Keep in mind, too, that many prescription shampoos leave the coat limp, and oily – a less than optimal finish for any dog breed. Plus, they often fail to address odours that may be lingering in the coat, hygienic areas and feet of fur-babies, which means it’s usually best to take advantage of the quality products we offer at Alpha Mobile Dog Wash.
Do you charge extra for matted pets?
Although our services include almost everything, we do charge extra for handling a very matted coat. However, we will never tack on extra fees without discussing it with you first during the scheduled appointment or initially, at the consultation.
Do you accept animals that have been sedated, or do you sedate animals yourself?
We’re sorry but we can’t provide sedated dog washing services nor do we work on sedated pets. Mobile dog washing is a great solution for animals that have anxiety from being at the groomers or getting unsuccessful baths at home in the backyard, etc., because it’s a very quiet, peaceful, one-on-one experience with an animal-loving professional who always does everything possible to put pets at ease.
We provide a calming atmosphere in a temperature-controlled, modern trailer with air-conditioning and heating, so while your pet is in our care, we create the most relaxing environment possible. With that being said, if you’re still worried that your pet may need to be sedated during a dog wash, it’s best for your them to be cleaned under a vet’s supervision.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require notice of cancellation 48-hours prior to your appointment. We’re busy washing dogs all over the Sunny Coast, Queensland, and don’t want to miss out on a job because we said no, thinking that we’d be taking care of your dog. As a result, we do need to implement a $20 fee for cancellations that occur within a 48-hour or less timeframe.
Do you take credit cards?
We accept cash, debit and credit cards, and Apple Pay. Alpha Dog Wash clients are required to have a credit card on file if they want us to wash their dog when they’re not available to bring their dog(s) to us or to get them afterwards and make payment. However, it isn’t necessary to pay by credit for your sessions. We happily accept cash payments, too.
Grooming salons sometimes keep my pet all day, how long does your Sunshine Coast mobile dog washing service take?
Grooming salons take in a high volume of animals every day, so you can be waiting for hours to pick up your pets, as they usually don’t have a set order of service. Mobile dog washing, on the other hand, is a one-to-one, by-appointment service. This means, you’ll know when to have your pet ready and approximately when they’ll be finished with their bath. On average, our Sunshine Coast mobile dog washing sessions take 60-90 minute, but it depends on the dog and its size. We’ll give you an estimate and can give closer guidelines over time as we get to know your dog better.
“My dog no longer hates getting a bath! Troy at Alpha Dog Wash is awesome to deal with and I know my dog, Biscuits, will always be well taken care of. Thank you!
